Richard Curtis Verses The Publishing Industry

For several decades, Richard Curtis created year-end humorous verses for Publishers Weekly, the industry’s bible. The rhymed couplets in iambic tetrameter lampooned book business wheelers and dealers and gently satirized the industry’s foibles.

A brief sample:
“Scores of famous names of yore
Have since succumbed to corporate war
Or publish books with but a semblance
Of their former independence.”
